In recognition of Youth Climate Action Day we invite you to watch “The Future of Sable Island” – a video created by 15yo Sophie Uhlarik.
We hired Sophie for the summer of 2024 to create a series of presentations about the cultural history and role of Sable Island National Park. One of the topics she suggested was the island’s future. She did the research, wrote the script and produced the video with minimal direction. The result is quite stunning and impactful! She is now inspired to pursue environmental studies for a career path and will clearly excel at it.
We submitted her video to the United Nations Youth Climate Report (YCR) and it was enthusiastically accepted. To view it:
