We are once again delighted to offer “Inspired by Sable Island” – an award for post-secondary students – in partnership with Parks Canada.
Sable Island has been inspiring people for centuries, and Friends of Sable Island keeps that tradition alive through our education program and by supporting ongoing research on the island and various learning opportunities. This award helps us continue to inspire the hearts and minds of the next generation who will care for Sable Island National Park Reserve. Previous submissions have covered a wide variety of topics including fresh-water ponds and climate change, while the formats of the activities have ranged from direct support for current research on the island to creative non-fiction.
Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education (in any discipline) and are returning to studies in the fall are eligible to apply. We are offering $500 and a day-trip to Sable Island National Park Reserve to promote learning and awareness of this Canadian national treasure. Deadline for applications is 11:59pm Atlantic Time on Friday, October 18, 2024.
