Sable Island Conference 2019 – “Shifting Sands” is just two weeks away! All activities will take place in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Halifax Convention Centre. Saturday morning and afternoon will feature formal presentations, interactive activity stations, and exhibitors. The conference closer event will be “A Night to go Wild” – an exciting gala dinner and fundraiser celebrating the spirit of Sable Island and its wild horses. The formal presentations on Saturday feature several young adults – the future of Sable Island! Illustrated talks will be 15 minutes each plus time for questions and answers, covering natural history/science, cultural history, visitor experience, and park management. The conference closing dinner and fundraiser will be thrilling! Attendees will experience this magical place through:
– MC Don Connolly, a familiar voice to many CBC listeners
– keynote speaker Roberto Dutesco and his stunning photography and lush filmmaking of the Sable Island horses
– Mayor Mike Savage who will present a special award, and
– Terry Kelly’s inspiring music featuring a new work about Sable Island’s horses written especially for this event.
Funds raised will be used to further educational programs, ensuring that the next generation learns to care about Sable Island – its future and ours. Tickets are $125 each, tables seat 10, and a corporate table is $2,000 and includes a commemorative gift.
