You have another opportunity to see Mocean Dance perform Sable Island on February 23rd and 24th, 2017!
Deeply metaphorical, Sable Island links the struggle of the island’s storied horses who survive in a hostile natural world with the fierce dedication of the dancers who prevail in a capricious environment far removed from the dance centres of the country. Physically demanding, spiritually challenging, visually stunning, Sable Island is a 40-minute driving force that keeps its audience mesmerized.
Since its world premiere in 2015, the production has been featured at the 2016 Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa and Vancouver’s 2016 Dancing on the Edge Festival. Showcasing not only the work of one of Canada’s most celebrated contemporary choreographers, the production also features an original musical score created for the production by Montreal composer Bertrand Chénier, who will once again perform on stage with the dancers.
The performance is called Double Bill and also includes Tedd Robinson’s explosive and joyous ensemble creation Canvas 5 x 5, the 2016 winner of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia’s Masterworks Arts Award.
