Charles Burke, Director of History

Charles A. Burke is an archaeologist with more than four decades of experience in Atlantic Canada’s cultural and heritage resource sector. Over the past several years he conducted field research on Sable Island documenting the Island’s unique archaeological evidence and contributing to the development of a resource management plan. He received the Parks Canada CEO Award of Excellence twice for his work as an archaeologist, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to archaeology and public education.  Charles has delivered numerous public presentations on the history and archaeology of Sable Island and is excited to be part of the Friends of Sable Island Society.
